Privacy Policy

WARDOGS Tracker (“we”, “us”, the “site”) is an independent, fan-made stats site for the game WARDOGS, available at wardogstracker.gg. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by BULKHEAD, Team17, or the makers of WARDOGS. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and your rights over it.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run the site:

  • Steam account data. When you use “Sign in through Steam”, Steam verifies your identity (OpenID) and we receive your public SteamID64 and, via the Steam Web API, your public profile name and avatar. We never receive your Steam password.
  • WARDOGS progression stats. For tracked players we store progression data (Wardog level, per-role levels/XP, cash, gold, and the weapons, attachments, gear and skins you have unlocked) so we can show profiles, leaderboards and a history chart of how your stats change over time. We only collect this whenyou choose to sync: you sign in through Steam, and we use that sign-in once to read your own progression from the WARDOGS game servers. To keep your stats current, we then keep the game session from that sign-in for as long as it stays valid (about 3 hours) and re-read your own progression roughly every 15 minutes. The session is stored encrypted, used only to read your stats, and deleted as soon as it expires, when the game ends it, or when you press “Stop” on your profile. We never store your Steam password.
  • Community server kill feeds. When a community server’s verified owner connects its kill feed, that server sends us each kill that happens on it (the players’ in-game names and SteamID64s, the weapon, distance and whether it was a headshot) so we can show a leaderboard for that server. This can include players who have never visited this site. Don’t want to appear? Sign in with Steam and turn on hide me from leaderboards in your profile — it applies to server leaderboards too.
  • Twitch (optional). If you link Twitch, we store your Twitch user id, login name, display name and profile picture. We use Twitch’s public API to check whether you are live and streaming WARDOGS, so we can show a “Live” badge on your profile and the leaderboards. We don’t request any permissions on your Twitch account.
  • Account activity. When you are signed in we record when you signed in, when you were last active (at most every few minutes) and the actions you take on the site — for example syncing stats, changing privacy settings, linking accounts, or creating loadouts, comments and server pages. Site administrators can see this to run the site, prevent abuse and support users. We don’t record which pages you view.
  • Notifications. We store the site announcements and alerts we send you (shown under the bell in the header) and whether you've read them. Announcements can also reach you by browser push (if you turned on browser alerts) or Discord DM (if you linked Discord).
  • Season archives. When a season ends we keep a permanent record of the final standings (your name, avatar, Wardog and role levels, XP, cash, gold and unlock count as of the end of the season) so past seasons can be shown. If you later hide yourself from leaderboards, you're shown there anonymously.
  • Discord data (optional). If you link Discord, we store your Discord user id and username to power bot features and account linking.
  • Outage reports. When you report a problem on our status page, we store a one-way hashed form of your IP address (never the IP itself) purely to rate-limit reports.
  • Technical data. Our hosting provider processes standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) to deliver and secure the site.
  • Cookies. A session cookie keeps you signed in. Third-party cookies may be set by advertising and analytics providers (see below).

How we use your data

  • To operate the site — sign-in, your profile, leaderboards and achievements.
  • To prevent abuse and rate-limit actions such as outage reports.
  • To display advertising that helps keep the site free.
  • To understand aggregate usage and improve the site.

Legal bases (EEA/UK)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on: your consent (for advertising and non-essential cookies), legitimate interests (running and securing the site, showing public leaderboards), and performance of a service you request (signing you in and showing your data).

Advertising & cookies

We use Google AdSense to show ads. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. Google may serve personalized ads where permitted.

Third-party services

We share data only with providers that help us run the site:

  • Valve / Steam — sign-in and public profile data.
  • Google AdSense — advertising.
  • Vercel — website hosting.
  • Neon — database hosting.
  • Discord — optional account linking and bot features.
  • Twitch — optional account linking and live-stream status.
  • WARDOGS game servers (BULKHEAD) — we read your own progression from them when you sync.
  • Community game servers — servers whose owners connect a kill feed send us kill events.

Public profiles & the stats API

Profiles and leaderboards are public. The same public data is also available to other developers through our stats API, looked up by SteamID64 or, if you allow it, by your linked Discord id. The API only returns what your profile shows publicly — hidden players, hidden stats and hidden unlocks are never included.

Your choices & rights

From your profile’s privacy settings you can hide yourself from the leaderboards, hide your cash and gold, hide your unlocked items, and turn off Discord lookups in the stats API. You can unlink Twitch at any time.

Deleting your data: email us from the address below and we'll permanently delete your account and everything we store about it (stats, history, unlocks, loadouts, comments, links, notifications and activity). Kills recorded by community servers are kept only in anonymized form so server totals stay correct, and we keep a one-way hashed marker of your SteamID so future server kill feeds keep you anonymized. Signing in again later creates a fresh account and removes that marker (you start hidden from leaderboards). If you only want to disappear from the rankings, turn on hide me from leaderboards in your profile.

If the GDPR applies to you, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing of your data, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, including deleting your account, email us at admin@wardogstracker.gg. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (in Finland, the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman).

Data retention

We keep account and stats data while your account exists or the site tracks the player, and delete or anonymize it when you delete your account or ask us to. Activity records are deleted with your account. Hashed outage-report records are short-lived and used only for rate-limiting.

Children

The site is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has provided us data, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site evolves. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
